Clare J. Quillin, 83-year-old Mid-States Steel & Wire Co. employe, died suddenly at 1:05 p.m. Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lytle of New Market. He was a Coal Creek Township native, a son of Thomas and Minerva Quillin, and was born Aug. 9, 1885. He was married in 1904 to Ethel Swank, who preceded him in death. In 1951 he was wed to Elsie Hendricks, who survives. Mr. Quillin, a member of Roberts Chapel Church, attended the old Patton School. He farmed most of his life and was an ardent harness racing fan. He retired 10 years ago from Mid-States here. Surviving besides his wife and the daughter in New Market are another daughter, Mrs. Evelyn MacArthur of Long Beach, Miss.; a son, Harold D. of Crawfordsville; a brother, Walter of Waynetown, and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A son, Edward S., died in 1967. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
